We're Hiring Youth & Family Support Specialists!

Interested in joining Pathfinders?

Pathfinders is always looking for compassionate, dependable professionals who want to make a difference in the lives of youth and families facing challenges. Our Youth and Family Support Specialists provide mentoring, skill-building, tutoring, advocacy, and practical support to young people involved with schools, social services, juvenile justice, and other community systems.

This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, relational, organized, and able to balance direct support with professional responsibilities.

In this role, you may:

  • Mentor and support youth in home, school, and community settings.
  • Help young people build life skills, improve decision-making, and work toward personal goals.
  • Support families through encouragement, problem-solving, and resource connection.
  • Collaborate with schools, case managers, social services, and other partners.
  • Participate in Pathfinders activities, workshops, field trips, and community activities.
  • Respond thoughtfully to challenges and adjust support based on individual needs.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in accordance with program and funding requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing communication with Pathfinders staff.

This role may be a good fit if you are someone who:

  • Believes in the potential of youth, even when progress takes time.
  • Can build trust while maintaining healthy boundaries and professionalism.
  • Is compassionate, patient, and able to engage youth with diverse needs.
  • Is dependable, responsive, and follows through on commitments.
  • Can manage your schedule independently while staying connected to a team.
  • Understands that quality documentation and timely reporting are an important part of serving clients well.
  • Is comfortable using your own vehicle to meet with clients in the community (travel support provided).
  • Sees challenges as opportunities and can problem-solve in the moment.

What makes this role unique:

This is a flexible, field-based role where specialists manage their own schedules and accept referrals based on specialty, availability and location.

That flexibility comes with responsibility: successful specialists are proactive communicators, reliable team members, and strong at balancing relationship-building with documentation and deadlines.

We tend to thrive with people who have backgrounds or strengths in:

  • Mentoring or youth development
  • Behavioral health or human services
  • Education or school support
  • Social work or case management
  • Coaching, counseling, or community-based support services

If you are looking for meaningful work where you can support youth and families while being part of a mission-driven team, we’d love to hear from you.
